About UPPRPB
The UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) is a Board constituted by Govt. of UP for carrying out all recruitment and promotion processes for subordinate police officers. UPPRPB was formed on 02 April, 2009 through a Government Order (GO). Its headquarter is at Lucknow. It is constituted for direct recruitment of the non gazetted post of Constable, Constable PAC, Sub-Inspector Civil Police, Platoon Commander and others. It also works for departmental promotion of Head Constable, Sub-Inspector, Inspector. It is constituted as one Chairman, five members & nine part time members. It is headed by Director General of Police (DGP) level officer. Now a days, Mr. Girish Prasad Sharma is Chairman of Board.
UP police is the law enforcement agency of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh headquartered in Prayagraj. It is headed by a director general of police (DGP) ranked IPS officer. The current DG of UP Police is Om Prakash Singh. It is the largest police force in the world. It was formed in 1863 under the Police Act, 1861. It is the governed by Department of Home and Confidential of Uttar Pradesh Government.
